The 340B Drug Pricing Program is a U.S. federal government program established in 1992, requiring pharmaceutical manufacturers to provide outpatient drugs to eligible health care organizations at significantly reduced prices. The purchasing program with (often massive) point of sale discounts on thousands of branded and generic products has blossomed recently into a $40 Billion drug spend (as of 2022).
Some manufacturers have found through random physical audits that some PBM's have been unable to separate 340B transactions from thier periodic rebate and admin fee invoices.
